First tractor pull
Sunday, October 19th, 2003For a while now, people have been asking me if I’ve noticed much different in my new homestate. Well yesterday, we went to the NC State Fair in Raleigh.
Most things at the fair are like any other fair - giant turkey legs, buckets of french fries, cotton candy, sketchy rides. A few things were pretty interesting - they had many more old time (early 1800s) craft booths where people were performing their craft on site. They were knitting elaborate deroative pieces, carving wooden muskets, spinning and weaving rugs, and making silohouette portraits. This seemed more historically cultural than what I’m used to in the upper midwest. Perhaps that’s the way it is in one of the 13 original colonies.

But then we went to the tractor pull, which brought it all into perspective.
